The Foundation for Safety in Skiing (SIS) is the leading institution for safety, prevention and sustainability in winter sports across the D-A-CH region. Drawing on our scientific expertise and strong partners, we actively shape the future of skiing.

A closer look at our work

Safety

The DSV Ski Patrol, in cooperation with the Mountain Rescue Service, ensures safety on ski slopes and cross-country trails. It takes a preventive approach and supports the planning and maintenance of winter sports facilities—with a focus on safety and environmental sustainability. ASU Ski, our analysis center, investigates the causes of accidents and provides the basis for tailored preventive measures—to enhance safety at all levels of skiing.

SCHNEEvonMORGEN

Sustainability is an integral part of our innovative work. Together with experts, we develop sustainable strategies and implement concrete measures for a sustainable future of skiing on behalf of and in collaboration with DSV, SNBGER, and FdS.

Knowledge & Education

We promote targeted education and training – in schools, on courses and in training programmes. Our ‘Ski&Berge Wissen’ magazine and other specialist publications disseminate safety- and environment-related knowledge in an effective and accessible way.

Participation & Access

For over 40 years, we have been organizing inclusive ski camps for children and teens with disabilities—supervised by the DSV Ski Patrol. Winter sports for everyone are a tangible expression of inclusion. Through outdoor camps for school groups, we promote education for sustainable development—and provide access to nature and physical activity.

Dialogue & International Cooperation

Together with national ski associations and the FIS, we promote international exchange and foster innovation and the further development of safety standards worldwide.
