History

50 Years of Progress with a Vision for the Future: The Foundation for Safety in Skiing (SIS) was founded in 1975. Over the past five decades, nearly 60 million euros have been invested in research, knowledge transfer, and various initiatives and projects.

Selected Milestones

SIS Founding

1975

The Foundation for Safety in Skiing (SIS) was established by a deed dated July 10, 1975, and approved by the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs on September 22, 1975. It is recognized as a nonprofit organization.

DSV Ski Patrol

since 1977

For over 45 years, the DSV Ski Patrol has been an indispensable part of safety on German ski slopes. Working together for a safe skiing experience.

FIS Code of Conduct: The FIS Code of Conduct was developed, in part, by the DSV’s Legal Advisory Board and serves as a guideline for considerate behavior on ski slopes and cross-country trails.

Environmental Plan 2000

Since 1990

The Environmental Plan 2000 was drafted in 1990 and served as a guide for concrete action to sustainably safeguard the ecological foundations. In 1993, an initial update was published detailing the specific measures that had been implemented.

IOC Environmental Award

1993

As early as 1993, the International Olympic Committee recognized the work of the DSV Environmental Advisory Board by awarding it the first IOC Environmental Prize.

Federal and State Nature Conservation Award

1998

In 1998, the “Rohrhardsberg” model, a project of the DSV Environmental Advisory Board, was awarded the Federal and State Nature Conservation Prize.

UNESCO Decades Award for "Education for Sustainable Development"

2007

The Ticket2Nature project was recognized as an official project of the UN Decade of “Education for Sustainable Development 2005–2014” and was accepted into the “Alliance for Learning Sustainability.”

2014

The first-place winner was Deuter Sport GmbH. The company distinguished itself through outstanding achievements in the areas of technical environmental protection and sustainable development.
