With this award, the Foundation for Safety in Skiing recognizes environmentally friendly innovations in the winter sports industry that aim to promote sustainability.

Project Description

The SIS ECO Award is presented annually by the Foundation for Safety in Ski Sports to companies that demonstrate outstanding achievements in technical environmental protection and sustainable development. The award recognizes high quality and long-term commitment to environmental stewardship. Criteria for evaluation include, among other things, sustainable ideas and comprehensive strategies, environmentally friendly production and distribution models, and the efficient use of materials and energy.

Objective

The goal of the ECO Award is to encourage companies to develop and implement innovative and sustainable solutions for winter sports. By recognizing and promoting such initiatives, the award helps advance environmental protection in the winter sports industry and raise awareness of sustainable practices. 

Outstanding achievements can be demonstrated in the following ways:

  • Significant innovations in a specific field
  • A recognized high level of performance in multiple areas of environmental protection
  • Outstanding achievements in a single area of environmental protection

The jury evaluates the relevance of the submitted projects based on the following criteria, among others:

  • “Sustainable” idea and overall concept
  • Environmentally friendly production methods and distribution concepts
  • Efficient use of materials and energy
  • Avoidance of environmentally harmful substances and manufacturing processes
  • Avoidance of substances hazardous to health
  • Sustainable product communication
