The goal of the DSV aktiv skiTEST is to provide an optimal overview of the wide range of products available on the ski market across the three main categories: alpine, cross-country, and ski touring. Through practical tests conducted under real-world conditions, the ski models for the upcoming season are put through their paces.
With the help of ski categories, test reports, and a length check, the results provide a purchasing guide for enthusiastic winter sports enthusiasts. To this end, the test models are inventoried, inspected, and finally covered with neutral adhesive tape. The reason: The ski’s design is concealed to prevent the testers from being influenced by the ski’s graphic design (DIN ISO 8783). On an optimally groomed test slope, first the professional test team and then the comparison group (consisting of readers of the DSV aktiv member magazine SKI & BERGE and selected sports retailers) can test the ski models for the new season.
The skiTEST Alpin is divided into nine categories, with each ski offering its own unique characteristics: from lightning-fast precision to powerful edge grip and smooth gliding. Our professional test team puts the skis through their paces for two weeks. In each of the nine test categories, the ski industry may submit one test model in its out-of-the-box condition. Ski manufacturers decide for themselves whether to participate in the DSV skiTEST and, if so, which categories to enter and with which ski models.

Announcement: Joint Development of a skiTEST Nordic with XC Ski Next Year
We are pleased to announce that a joint skiTEST Nordic with XC Ski is planned for next year. The goal is to combine the expertise of both partners and develop a high-quality test format.
Further information regarding the specific test groups and the scope of the test will follow shortly.
The skiTEST for ski touring was divided into three categories, recognizing the fluid transition between the classes, which is determined by the respective ski waist width and the choice of ski length in relation to weight, height, and skill level. This chosen—and quite common—categorization is therefore intended merely as a rough guide. All companies participating in the test were able to assign their models to the specified categories themselves. Since there are now specific models on the market in all classes for both women and men, the women’s models were tested by female testers, and the models developed for men were tested by male testers.
