The Sustainability Board is the overarching steering committee composed of representatives from the associations (the presidents of the DSV and SNBGER, the DSV Executive Board Spokesperson, the Managing Director of SIS/FdS, the SIS Executive Board, the Head of the Working Group, and the Chair of KDL), which meets four times a year. Its responsibilities, in collaboration with the Competence Center for Sustainability, include overall management, the development of strategic goals, and the definition of KPIs. The Sustainability Board is chaired by R. Roth, a member of the SIS Executive Board and Head of Sustainability Strategy.
The Sustainability Office, staffed by two full-time sustainability experts, coordinates, directs, and communicates activities across all associations. The office is supported by SIS and DSV.
The Sustainability Working Group of Sports Organizations (AG) is responsible for the operational implementation within the federations. It initiates and oversees measures and projects for implementation in the various areas of action. This working group includes representatives from SNBGER, DSV (sports development, marketing, competitive sports), and SIS. The working group is led by Klaus Rambach (Managing Director of DSV Verwaltungs GmbH).
In 1987, we became the first German sports federation to establish an advisory board for the environment and sustainable development in skiing. The advisory board not only provides guidance on specialized environmental issues but also serves as a consultative body supporting sustainable development across various subject areas. It brings together expertise from the fields of ecology, climate protection, sports science, tourism, alpine land-use planning, and sustainable sports infrastructure. Together with the Advisory Board for Medicine and Health and the Advisory Board for Law and Safety, it covers key pillars of the federation’s development. With their independent members from academia, business, and civil society, the advisory boards provide critical and constructive guidance for our work and enrich it with valuable external perspectives.
The Stakeholder Panel serves as a forum for dialogue with our stakeholders and partners. It works constructively to advise on, develop, and prioritize measures; pools expertise; and promotes exchange among associations, athletes, partners, and other stakeholders such as destinations, industry, and academia. The focus is on the mutual exchange and networking of solutions for sustainable progress. The panel is moderated by SIS.
"The Environmental Advisory Board, established as early as 1985, is a body unique in the world that brings together experts from the fields of science, sports, government, and business. To date, SIS has implemented over 300 projects through this initiative—ranging from ecological analyses of ski resorts and climate adaptation strategies to digital solutions such as the cross-country ski trail portal.
