SKIING & MOUNTAINS: What You Need to Know

Project Description

"SKI & BERGE Wissen" (formerly "FdSnow"), a "specialized magazine for winter and mountain sports," complements the member magazine "SKI & BERGE" at the Haus des Ski in Planegg. This German-language journal, which covers both the science and practice of skiing and mountain sports, features expert articles from all disciplines that analyze the development, structures, and future prospects of skiing and mountain sports. It is aimed equally at ski instructors, academics, coaches, trainers, policymakers, and practitioners who need well-founded insights into issues relevant to winter sports.

Objective

The goal is to transfer knowledge from all of the DSV’s areas of expertise to the winter sports community and society at large: The German Ski Association (DSV) manages more than just its sports disciplines and training programs professionally. Through the SIS and its advisory boards, the DSV has also been receiving advice since 1975 on key legal, environmental, and climate policy issues, as well as medical and service-related matters.

Whether within the association, for professional purposes, or in cooperation with schools—the German Ski Association (DSV) and the Foundation for Safety in Skiing provide training, continuing education, and professional development: on the one hand, to ensure safety in organized skiing areas and in the day-to-day work of the DSV Ski Patrol; on the other hand, to shape the diverse training pathways within the DSV’s sports development program and the federation’s own coaching school. It is our mission and our commitment to provide winter sports participants with the best possible information and training. The new magazine is intended to be another contribution toward this goal.
