Safety starts with the infrastructure. The "Certified German Ski Area" designation establishes uniform standards and provides reliable guidance.

In collaboration with the Association of German Cable Cars and T-Bar Lifts (VDS), SIS launched the PGS seal during the 2009/2010 season. A clearly defined set of criteria evaluates ski slopes across five categories. If all criteria are met, an independent commission awards the designation “CERTIFIED SKI RESORT GERMANY.” The designation is valid for three years, is subject to ongoing review, ensures that the slopes meet the required safety standards, and builds trust. Currently, 25 German ski resorts bear this seal, including Zugspitze, Nebelhorn, Feldberg, and Brauneck.
